“Men Plan, God Laughs” Yiddish proverb.
We wanted to draw your attention to the extreme weather happening in South East Asia currently:

Greenpeace did an expose a few years ago about respiratory diseases caused by a power plant on the Philippine Island Luzon. This film will give you a good idea what life was like for the people that live there.
An earthquake in the ocean caused a Tsunami on the American Samoa Islands, Thursday. A 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Padang, Indonesia on Thursday as well. The Philippines is still experiencing extreme flooding after a “super” typhoon hit the island of Luzon. Saturday, the alteration in terrain left by the earthquake in Padang made things worse: a mudslide occurred and 4 villages were wiped out. As of Saturday night, it was estimated that more than 1,500 people had been killed.

Deforestation makes mudslides worse. And Indonesia has that problem in spades through illegal logging activities. To take a look click here.
to help the victims of the Padang Earthquake. The same Red Cross page linked above can be used to donate for the victims of the Philippine flooding and the Samoan Islands as well.
